Symposium on SA democracy at 30

On Tuesday 28 May, the Centre for Africa-China Studies hosted a symposium on ‘South African Democracy at 30: Gains and Challenges’.

The programme was facilitated by Dr Emmanuel Matambo, the Centre’s Director of Research. The keynote address was delivered by Prof Bhaso Ndzendze, outgoing Head of Politics and International Relations at UJ.

The first first panel discussion, on ‘South Africa on the home front’, featured Ms Bongiwe Tutu and Dr Moshe Makoka as discussants.

The second panel discussion, on ‘South Africa’s external role’, featured Ms Mmabatho Mongae and Mr Neo Letswalo as discussants.

There were two question and answer sessions. The closing remarks were delivered by Dr Sizo Nkala.
