Webinar on 100th anniversary of the CPC

On Tuesday 22 June 2021, the CACS, in partnership with the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, hosted a zoom webinar on ‘The 100th Anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC)’.

Speakers

The event was chaired by Dr David Monyae, Co-Director of the UJ Confucius Institute and the UJ Centre for Africa-China Studies.

The welcoming address was delivered by Prof Tshilidzi Marwala, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg.

The main speaker was H.E. Amb. Chen Xiaodong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of South Africa.

Background

On 1 July 2021, the Communist Party of China (CPC) will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Born in a time of hardship and strife, it has survived to govern China for 71 years. In this webinar, analysts from China, Africa, and elsewhere reviewed the party’s history and analysed its impact on China, the world community as well as Africa.
