Webinar on the life and times of Dr Kenneth Kaunda




On Tuesday 29 June, the UJ Vice Chancellor’s Office, in partnership with the UJ Centre for Africa-China Studies, hosted an MS Teams webinar titled ‘Reflecting on the life and times of former Zambian President Dr Kenneth Kaunda‘.
Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Zambia’s founding president, who died on 17 June at the age of 97, was the last of Africa’s pioneering nationalists who reclaimed the continent from colonial control. In this webinar, leading analysts will reflect on the meaning of his life and career.
The speakers wereTshilidzi Marwala, UJ Principal and Vice-Chancellor; Dr Emmanuel Matambo, Research Director, CACS; and Dr Sishuwa Sishuwa, Zambian historian and political commentator. The webinar was chaired by Gladys Mwamba, export expert and Mandarin linguist.
